The Cappella Sansevero houses the tombs of the aristocratic family of Sangro di San Severo. The well-known Giuseppe Sammartino made much of the interior, including the focus of attention of the chapel - the alabaster-carved Veiled Christ. The sculpture represents Christ's body under a veil following the crucifixion. The chapel was also a playfield of the 18th century alchemist Prince Raimondo, who conducted anatomic tests with human bodies. In case you can stomach that, take a look in the crypt, where the results of these experiments are displayed.

The Duomo in Naples dates back to end of the 13th century. Its construction started in 1272 and was completed in 1315. The magnificent chapel however lost regrettably most of its authentic Gothic structure and at present, it demonstrates more of a Neo-Gothic style. The curious thing about the Duomo is that it provides access to the 4th century Christian Basilica, which according to scientists is the first Christian basilica, built in Naples. The chapel also contains two vials of St. Gennaro's blood, which is believed to liquefy and boil several times each year.

La Fontana dell'Immacolatella

One of the top tourist attractions in Florence is La Fontana dell'Immacolatella. Its beauty and elegant sophistication are apparent. Built in the beginning of the 17th century by Michelangelo Naccherino and Pietro Benini in white and grey marble, the fountain is a typical Italian work of art, decorated with coats of arms and eagles. The middle coat of arms is supported by two angels.

The Ruins of Pompeii are definitely a must-see, especially if you have a day to spare. Getting there is easy; just take a train from the Central Railway station. The distance is no more than 20 miles. The site is to be found on the other side of Mount Vesuvius to the south of the city. It is heard to believe how well preserved the city is. Due to the eruption of Vesuvius Volcano in 79 AD, the city was covered in lava and hence deserted. The lava however helped the city to be preserved just as it was during that period. Many structures, mosaics, baths and temples have remained. Remarkable details and markings are still intact giving lavish evidences of the way people had lived. One of the most interesting spots is the forum, which ancient columns still stay undamaged. Strolling along the streets you will encounter many ancient retail shops, villas and houses as well as the remarkable amphitheatre where important battles were once held.
